AIR-DEFENSE SYSTEMS
THAAD
_The Theater High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) is a ground based system
designed to destroy a wide variety of theater ballistic missiles. The
THAAD consists of a hit-to-kill missile, radar; launcher, and BMC3
(Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications) system.
The THAAD system provides the first capability against long-range ballistic missiles. It will be capable of counter such missiles at long ranges (>200 km) avoiding the effects of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) payloads on battlefield troops and civilian populations.

MIM-104 Patriot
_
The Patriot is a long range, high
altitude, all weather surface-to-air missile system designed to defeat advanced
threats, including ballistic missiles, aircraft and cruise missiles. It was
combat-proven during operation Desert Storm in 1991. Patriot can engage
multiple targets simultaneously even in heavy electronic countermeasures
environment.
The Patriot PAC-3 is an upgraded model from baseline Patriot air defense system. The Patriot PAC-3 missiles are intended against high-performance ballistic missiles in clutter conditions. PAC-2 missiles will counter aircraft, cruise missile and ballistic missiles in heavy countermeasures environments.

NASAMS
_The Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System (NASAMS) is a
short/medium range, mobile air defense system intended to protect
facilities and other assets against airborne threats such as cruise
missiles, fighter aircraft, helicopters and/or unmanned aerial vehicles
(UAVs). The NASAMS employs legacy hardware associated to the proven HAWK
air defense system and the AIM-120 AMRAAM missile, as well as new
hardware and components. All in, NASAMS air defense system consists of
radars linked in a network, command and control systems and launch pads
for AMRAAM missiles.
Centurion/C-RAM
_The Centurion is a modified Phalanx Block 1B weapon system mounted on a
stabilized wheeled platform to protect ground forces and high-value
sites against rocket, artillery and mortar (RAM) threats. This
Counter-RAM (C-RAM) weapon system has been deployed in the Global War on
Terror (GWOT) with the Armed Forces of the United States of America
(USA) and the United Kingdom (UK). As of July 2008, the Centurion has
successfully intercepted and destroyed over 100 RAM threats.
